RIVIERA BEACH, FLORIDA – Every spring, volunteers nationwide join forces to clean up their community. We had 62 Riviera Beach residents and students that came out to participate on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 8am-11am on this project.
The event meetup was located at 928 7th Street and broke up the volunteers in teams of ten. Each team was assigned a different task for the project from landscaping to picking up trash along the streets of 4th-7th. The teams battled the hot sun and did a tremendous job cleaning up the 6 square mile area with 1600 pounds of debris.
Dr. Darlene Cruz stated, “The Great American Cleanup means coming out and assisting our city to help beautify our community in every way possible. This is needed on every street and our goal is to make our city as nice, clean, and as beautiful as possible.”
The landscaping teams tended to the beautification of two houses in the area. One team planted flowers and mulched the front and backyards of a house on 6th Street. The other team planted, mulched, and laid sod for a house on 7th Street. Both projects came out beautifully with our Ambassadors and the master gardener leading the efforts.
All Site Construction, Inc., was our main sponsor for this event and was onsite to help with the project. Ezra Saffold, the owner, his wife and son were all there to lend a helping hand to the community.
Volunteers at the end of the event left with a boxed lunch and students were able to earn valuable community service hours. In one afternoon, a small project gave a big impact to the people involved and to making Riviera Beach a greener place!
The Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency
The Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency is at the heart of dramatic transformations underway within the district. Formed in 1984 by the Riviera Beach City Council, the Riviera Beach CRA provides funding for a wide scope of projects that incentivize economic growth through business attraction and retention; finances and new and improved infrastructure for real estate projects; and generally works to expand the tax base by creating a welcoming environment that eliminates blight and improves the perception of safety in the area.
The Agency’s main mission is to guide the city’s redevelopment efforts. This includes making investments of public funds in key infrastructure improvement projects that have the capacity to act as a catalyst for additional private funding and development, create jobs and help to improve the quality of life for city residents.
