The City of Riviera Beach Hosts a Second Job Fair

MEDIA ADVISORY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The second Job Fair in Riviera Beach happened at the Riviera Beach Marina Village on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 10am to 1pm with record attendance by employers and interviewees looking for work. There were 25 employers ready to hire from different industries within Palm Beach County and over 200 people that showed up looking to meet with them.

“This pandemic has affected everybody across the board so we’re trying to bridge that gap between the two,” Councilman Douglas Lawson said. “In addition to the pandemic, we also have to provide opportunities for our employees and also for our residents because our employers are struggling as well.”

Job seekers were encouraged to dress for success and bring plenty of resumes. Suits for Seniors were also onsite to help dress people for their best. Interviewees were brought into Newcomb Hall in groups of 28 and were able to sit down and speak to employers in their 20-minute round table time. To make sure everyone stayed safe, CDC guidelines were followed as face masks and social distancing were required.

In addition to the job fair, Lawson said there will be an opportunity for those in attendance to learn how to write a resume and receive tips on how to prepare for an interview. “The goal is to really just build a training plan of programs and build succession planning to teach them how to actually move forward and up the ranks so we don’t want to just give jobs and put residents with employers, we want to make sure we give the training necessary to get to the next level,” Lawson said.

We are already hearing of great success from this job fair days after the event. Employers sent people to second interviews from the job fair and called others back to offer full-time or part-time roles. We are excited to hear all that came from this job fair and the others to come. Stay tuned for the next job fair!
